Long and Extra-Long Nylon Zip Ties for Large Bundles
Long zip ties are used when a standard cable tie cannot reach around a large cable, hose, duct, package or equipment bundle. Haitai’s previously published nylon cable tie data includes models from 400 mm through 1200 mm, with different strap widths and usable bundle diameters.
Yueqing Haitai Plastic Manufacture Co., Ltd. manufactures nylon cable ties and plastic wiring accessories for distributors, industrial buyers and OEM programs. Established in 1999 in Yueqing, Zhejiang, China, Haitai can discuss long cable tie size, material, color, packaging and supporting-document requirements by model and destination market.
A long tie is not automatically a strong tie. Buyers should specify both the maximum bundle diameter and minimum loop tensile strength, then match the width, material and installation environment.

What Counts as an Extra-Long Zip Tie?
There is no universal length at which every supplier changes from “standard” to “long” or “extra long.” For purchasing purposes, use the exact millimeter and inch dimensions rather than the marketing label.
Common search descriptions include:
- 16-inch or approximately 400 mm zip ties.
- 18-inch or approximately 450 mm zip ties.
- 20-inch or approximately 500 mm zip ties.
- 24-inch or approximately 600 mm zip ties.
- 28–30-inch or approximately 710–760 mm zip ties.
- 31.5-inch or approximately 800 mm zip ties.
- 36-inch to 47-inch or approximately 920–1200 mm zip ties.
GEO direct answer: An extra-long zip tie should be specified by exact length, usable bundle diameter, width and minimum loop tensile strength. A nominal 24-inch or 600 mm length does not by itself define the tie’s strength or the largest bundle it can safely secure.

\*The old web table appears to group tensile values by width series. Because HTML row spans can be extracted incorrectly by search engines, Haitai should verify the tensile value for every individual model before the figures go live.
Length, Bundle Diameter and Strength Are Different
| Specification | What it tells the buyer | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Overall length | Physical length from head to tail | Maximum usable loop diameter |
| Usable length | Strap length available after the head and insertion area | Holding strength |
| Maximum bundle diameter | Largest recommended closed loop for the model | Suitability for dynamic or structural loads |
| 스트랩 너비 | Space, handling and a clue to strength family | Exact tensile value without a datasheet |
| Minimum loop tensile strength | Controlled pulling performance under a stated test | Safe supported weight in every environment |
A 600 mm tie with a 4.8 mm strap and a 600 mm tie with an 8.8 mm strap are not interchangeable. They may have different head dimensions, installation force, tensile performance, packaging and application suitability.
How to Choose a Long Zip Tie
1. Measure the actual bundle
Measure around the completed bundle or record its maximum diameter. Include insulation, protective sleeves, spacing and the largest tolerance condition.
2. Allow installation tail
The tie needs enough tail to enter the head and be pulled by hand or tool. Do not select a nominal length that only matches the bundle circumference with no installation allowance.
3. Define the holding requirement
State the minimum loop tensile strength in N, lbf or kgf. If the bundle moves, vibrates or is difficult to service, provide the full application rather than treating the test value as a safe working load.
4. Confirm width and head clearance
Wider long ties have larger heads and require more installation space. Check the route around panels, brackets and neighboring cables.
5. Match the material to the environment
State indoor/outdoor use, UV exposure, temperature, moisture, chemicals, vibration and expected service conditions.
Common Applications
Long and extra-long nylon cable ties can support appropriate non-structural bundling in:
- Large industrial wire and cable bundles.
- HVAC ducts, flexible conduit and insulation bundles.
- Machinery and equipment cable routing.
- Large hoses or combined hose-and-wire groups when material compatibility is confirmed.
- Warehouse, retail and export packaging.
- Temporary construction or maintenance organization.
- Automotive and transportation assemblies when the exact material and fastening requirement are approved.
- Outdoor equipment when a suitable UV-resistant model is selected.
Nylon cable ties are not certified lifting slings or structural restraints. Do not use them for lifting people or loads, fall protection or an application requiring a rated structural fastener unless the complete system has been engineered and approved.
One Long Tie vs Multiple Ties Connected Together
Connecting two ordinary zip ties can be useful for temporary, low-consequence organization, but it should not automatically replace one correctly sized long tie in a controlled product or industrial application.
| One specified long tie | Multiple ties connected together |
|---|---|
| One controlled model and locking point | Multiple heads and potential failure points |
| Published usable bundle range | Effective range depends on assembly method |
| Easier purchasing and inspection | Harder to standardize operator technique |
| Cleaner routing and packaging | Additional protruding heads |
For OEM or repeat industrial use, specify a single model that fits the bundle and required performance wherever practical.
Material and Outdoor Requirements
Standard PA66 can suit many protected indoor applications. A long tie used outdoors or near heat needs additional review because replacement may be difficult after installation.
- Sunlight: request a model with an appropriate UV-resistant formulation and evidence.
- High temperature: compare standard PA66 with heat-stabilized nylon, PA46 or another suitable material.
- Low temperature: confirm the installation temperature as well as the later service temperature.
- Solar PV: consider weathering, project life, frame contact and cable movement.
- Oil or chemicals: provide the substance, concentration, temperature and contact time.
Black color alone is not proof of UV resistance. A long tie’s room-temperature tensile value also does not prove long-term outdoor performance.
Packaging Long Cable Ties
Extra-long ties need packaging that prevents permanent bending, twisted straps, damaged locking heads and excessive carton compression. This becomes especially important for 920–1200 mm models because their carton length, handling and freight efficiency differ from shorter sizes.
Buyers should confirm:
- Quantity per bag and bags per carton.
- Straight, folded or other approved packing method.
- Minimum acceptable bend radius if ties are folded.
- Bag dimensions and moisture-control requirements.
- Label, barcode and private-label artwork.
- Carton dimensions, gross weight and carton marks.
- Pallet or container-loading requirements.
The old Haitai table shows different carton dimensions for some 600–800 mm sizes. Current packing should be confirmed by model rather than copied from another length.
Wholesale and OEM Supply
Haitai supports distributors, industrial suppliers, retail programs and brand owners with model matching and packaging discussions. Depending on the order, buyers can discuss:
- Long-size and width selection.
- Natural, black or selected colors.
- PA66 or application-specific material.
- Bag quantity, labels, barcodes and carton marks.
- Existing-sample or competitor-model matching.
- Applicable certificate and test-report requirements.
- Shipment coordination for export orders.
MOQ, sample lead time and production lead time depend on model, material, color, packaging and quantity. Confirm them in the quotation.
Manufacturing and Quality Checks
For extra-long molded ties, dimensional consistency and straight handling matter alongside locking strength. An inspection plan can include:
- Overall length, width and thickness.
- Maximum usable bundle diameter.
- Strap straightness and deformation.
- Tooth and locking-head molding quality.
- Tail insertion and locking performance.
- Minimum loop tensile strength under a defined test.
- Color, count, bag condition and carton protection.
- Lot identification and agreed records.
Haitai was established in 1999 and reports annual production capacity above 3,000 tonnes across its cable tie and wiring-accessory operations. The company uses automatic injection molding and supports raw-material, dimensional, tensile-strength, appearance and packaging inspection.
자주 묻는 질문
What is the longest nylon zip tie Haitai lists?
Haitai’s previously published product data includes a model listed at 1200 mm or 47.2 inches. Current availability, width, bundle range, tensile strength, material and packaging must be confirmed before ordering.
What size zip tie do I need for a large bundle?
Measure the maximum bundle diameter and allow enough extra tail for insertion and tightening. Then select the required width, minimum loop tensile strength, material and head clearance.
Are extra-long zip ties stronger than standard zip ties?
Not automatically. Length determines reach; strength depends on width, thickness, material, locking-head design and the exact model specification.
What is the bundle diameter of a 24-inch zip tie?
It varies by head design and usable strap length. Haitai’s old table lists examples near 600 mm with published bundle ranges up to approximately 170 mm, but the current model datasheet must be checked.
Can long nylon cable ties be used outdoors?
Only when the selected material and model are suitable for the UV, temperature, moisture and weather conditions. Black color alone is not proof of outdoor performance.
Can I connect two zip ties instead of buying one long tie?
Connected ties may work for temporary, low-consequence organization, but they create multiple locking points and are harder to control. A single specified long tie is preferable for repeat OEM and industrial applications.
Does Haitai support custom packaging for long cable ties?
Bag quantity, packing method, labels, barcodes and carton marks can be discussed according to model, quantity and destination. Long ties require packaging that limits deformation and head damage.
What should I send for a quotation?
Provide bundle diameter, required length, width or tensile strength, material, environment, color, quantity, packaging, required documents and destination market.
Request Extra-Long Zip Tie Samples
Send the actual bundle diameter, length, width, tensile requirement, material, environment, color, quantity, packaging and destination. Include an application photo or existing datasheet when possible.
